How the Technical Analyst skill works
Technical Analyst
Framing: A technical read describes what the chart shows and lays out probability-weighted scenarios. It is not a prediction and not advice. Base every conclusion only on the chart the user provided; do not import news or fundamentals.
Quick start
You need a chart image. If the user has not attached one, ask for it and note the timeframe (weekly is the default swing horizon). Read the chart systematically and state what is actually visible -- never infer levels or candles you cannot see.
Read the chart in order
- Trend -- direction and stage (early, extended, rolling over) across the visible range. Note the sequence of highs and lows.
- Support and resistance -- the price zones where the chart has repeatedly turned. Give zones, not false-precision single prices.
- Moving averages -- if MAs are drawn, describe price position relative to them, their slope, and any crossovers. If none are drawn, say so rather than guessing.
- Volume -- expansion on advances vs declines, and whether recent moves are confirmed or thin. Only if a volume pane is visible.
- Patterns -- name any structure you can actually see (base, flag, wedge, double top) and the level that would confirm or break it.
Scenarios
Close with 2-4 probability-weighted scenarios. For each: the trigger level, the path, a target zone, and the invalidation level that would kill the scenario. Weights are qualitative (for example "more likely / less likely"), not fake percentages.
Guardrails
- Chart only. No news, earnings, or fundamentals -- that is a different skill.
- Only what is visible. If the image is low-resolution or cut off, say what you cannot read rather than filling it in.
- Zones and scenarios, not calls. Present ranges and probabilities, not a single price prediction, and never a buy/sell recommendation.
