How the Market Conviction Synthesizer skill works
Market Conviction Synthesizer
Framing: This blends several top-down signals into one honest read of how risk-on the environment is, in the spirit of Druckenmiller-style "when you see it, bet big -- otherwise protect capital." It is a posture for context, not a market call and not advice.
Quick start
Assemble the signal set. Use whatever the user provides; for anything missing, either assess it from a chart/data the user shares or state plainly that the signal is unknown and lower your confidence accordingly. Do not fabricate breadth or macro readings.
The signals
- Market breadth -- participation: advance/decline, new highs vs new lows, percent above key moving averages. Narrow leadership is a caution.
- Trend / uptrend health -- are the major indices and a broad set of stocks in uptrends, or is it a thin, top-heavy tape?
- Macro regime -- the 1-2 year backdrop: liquidity, rates, policy direction. Is the regime supporting or draining risk assets?
- Leadership -- are strong themes and growth setups working (offense), or is the tape defensive and mean-reverting?
- Top / distribution risk -- distribution days, deteriorating breadth, blow-off behavior that argues for defense.
Synthesize
- Rate each available signal, then combine into a 0-100 conviction score (state your weighting; missing signals widen the uncertainty band, not a false-precise point).
- Classify the pattern: strong risk-on (offense), constructive-but-mixed, defensive/late, or wait/cash. Name which signals drive the classification.
- Translate to an exposure lean -- roughly how much to tilt toward offense (leaders, higher net exposure) vs defense (raise cash, tighten stops). A lean, not a specific dollar allocation.
Present it
Lead with the score and pattern, then the per-signal breakdown so the user sees the drivers and the conflicts, then the exposure lean. Call out explicitly where signals disagree -- a divided tape is itself information.
Guardrails
- Honest about gaps. Unknown signals lower conviction; never paper over a missing input with a guess.
- Posture, not a call. A conviction score and lean for context, not a prediction of direction.
- Not advice. This does not tell the user what to buy, sell, or hold.
